06/10/10

One of our longtime and faithful members, Alice James, has gone to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 8.  Her celebration of Life service will be Sunday, June 13, at 12:30pm in the Sanctuary.  You may visit with the family before and after the service.

 

3/16/10

Make your plans now to join us here at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church for our Easter Celebrations during Holy Week.

·         Sunday, March 28, 11:00am – PALM SUNDAY - Special Easter Music during morning worship.

·         Sunday, April 4, 7:00am – EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE – followed by Breakfast in the fellowship hall.

·         Sunday, April 4, 11:00am – EASTER SERVICE – with more Special Easter Music.

 

01/14/10

·         Immediately after Church on Sunday, January 17, the youth members will be hosting a soup and salad luncheon.  Everyone is invited to eat lunch.  There is no set cost, however, donations are encouraged.  All money collected will go towards sending our youth to camp this summer.

·         Christian Sympathy is extended to the family of John Calvin Haynie who passed away on January 9.  His celebration of life service was Wednesday, January 13. John’s parents, John W. and Emily Haynie were members here from the 30’s to the 90’s.

·         Christian Sympathy is extended to Barry Billington and the family of Virginia Billington who passed away peacefully on January 11.  Her celebration of life service was Thursday, January 14. Virginia was the church organist here for 31 years.

 

12/17/09

·         A Christmas Cantata will be Sunday, December 20, at 7:00pm.  The Philadelphia Presbyterian Choir will be presenting “The Winter Rose” by Joseph M. Martin.  A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

·         A Christmas Eve Service will be Thursday, December 24, at 7:00pm.  Join us for a candlelight and communion service.

·        Merry Christmas to all!  Remember that the church office will be closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25 for the Christmas holiday. 

 

11/25/09

·         Pastor Spencer is still in the hospital today.  Although his blood sugar and triglycerides are still down, he is experiencing disorientation from the pain medication.  The  doctors expect that this will just be temporary. He should be able to go home this weekend.  Please keep him and Sherri in your prayers.

·         Jim McWilliams, a long time member, passed away this week.  The service was Tuesday, November 24.  Please keep his wife, Connie and family in your prayers.

·        Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  Remember that the church office will be closed on Thursday and Friday due to the holiday.

 

11/19/09

·        Pastor Spencer has been on everyone’s mind and in their prayers this week due to his hospitalization.  He reports today that they have had a break-through and his blood sugar is down, his triglycerides are down, and most of all, his pain is almost all gone.  He will require a couple more days in the hospital and then rest at home.  If everything goes well, he should be back in the office next week. We have a lot to be thankful for.  Praise the Lord!

 

11/12/09

·         PLOT Luncheon will be Sunday, November 15.  The menu is a Salad & Potato Bar.  Please plan to joins us to support our children & youth.

·        STEWARDSHIP PACKETS will be available in the narthex.  Please make sure you pick yours up on your way out Sunday to save on postage.

 

10/29/09

·         WORK DAY will be this coming Saturday, October 31 from 8:30am to 12:00 noon.  Please come and lend a hand.

·         SET YOUR CLOCKS back this Saturday, October 31, before going to bed.  Daylight Savings Time will be ending.

 

10/26/09

PRAYER REQUESTS – Several of our members have been in the hospital this weekend.  Please lift them up in prayer.

·         Jim McWilliams – at Southern Regional – blood pressure concerns – in a room now.

·         Doris Ellis – at Southern Regional – still in ICU – extremely high blood sugar.

·         Bert Tatzel – at Southern Regional – major stroke – since October 18 – stable but still in ICU.

·         Demester Dunaway – at Northside Hospital – nuclear stress test – awaiting other tests.

 

10/12/09

·         Circle One (Hostess: Dot Dunn) will be Saturday at 10:30am.

·         Please remember the PLOT luncheon is this coming Sunday, 10/18/09, at 12:00 noon.  Come and enjoy homemade pizzas, salad and dessert.  All proceeds will go towards sending our youth to camp next summer.  

·         Mary & Martha Circle will meet on Saturday, October 24, 10:30am, at the home of Debbie Durden.  (This is a change from the October calendar)
